I was raised on a Northwest Washington farm where I found myself competing with livestock and an invention called TV. So at a young age I began drawing to get attention. My Nordic heritage played a role and I was an eager audience for family storyteller Aunt Aggie, who taught me to sacrifice the truth for the sake of a laugh. Surviving high school was made even tougher with the loss of my art teacher, Ozborne Van Moorhem, whose sense of humor continues to inspire my creativity.

I graduated from the Burnley School of Professional Art in Seattle in 1971, where I studied in a "haunted" building under a colorful group of instructors including William Cumming, Fred Griffin and Perry Acker. I have worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for over 30 years, but my real passion is humor.

My early cartoons were published in the Fishwrapper, a Northwest comics and commentary newspaper. RubyLips and DogLips are featured in Entertainment News Northwest Magazine and Seattle City Dog Magazine.

I live in Bellingham and am a member of the Museum of Northwest Art, Wing Luke Asian Museum, Northwest Design Association, and Allied Arts. I also belong to the Norwegian Association for Short Daughters with High Foreheads.
